    Sixth Form


     

    Our aim is to treat each student as an individual; to offer support that will allow each student to achieve their full potential.

    Support for students in the Sixth Form at West Hatch High School is provided primarily by a dedicated and experienced Sixth Form Team. This Team, along with the Heads of House, play a central role in providing academic and pastoral support for students during a period of time when major decisions are made regarding their future progression, be that into Higher Education, Training or Employment.

    • Vertical Tutoring

      Through the House system we seek to further foster our sense of school community and student’s sense of loyalty.  There are increased opportunities, not only for leadership but also responsibility and competition.  Students are in mixed age forms, four students from Years 7-13.  Through this we hope to engender a real sense of accountability to each other as well as giving our students the skills to work successfully with people of all ages.

    • Vertical Tutoring

      During Form time, all students participate in a range of learning activities which are meticulously planned to meet their needs. At West Hatch we believe in developing the spiritual, moral, social and emotional aspects of our students as well as their academic achievement. Therefore through weekly PSHEC lessons, our students are given the opportunity to discuss a range of issues facing young people in today’s society. Students also work on literacy and numeracy skills within Form time and regularly participate in mentoring activities.

      At the heart of our House system are the regular competitions which all students are afforded the opportunity to participate in and win points for their Form group and their House. Throughout the year every department runs a competition which are either for separate year groups or a combination of pupils from all years. Our Inter House competitions have brought a fresh dimension to the school and have developed a greater sense of community across the school.
